What makes Sangberg basses unique?

Well, everything really! Every Sandberg bass made has been specifically ordered through Sandberg’s configurator on their website, meaning it was handpicked and designed by the original owner. This consists of pretty much every aspect of the bass: body and neck material, number of strings, pickup layout, finish and colour, relicing and aging options, and much more.

On top of knowing your instrument is a one-of-a-kind handbuilt bass, Sandberg utilises several interesting technologies to further enhance their instruments. The plekking process ensures exacting playability across the full fretboard, the thermo and vibration treatments improve feel and stability of the instrument, and the top-quality hardware includes some unique features, such as the multi-point adjustable bridge.

What types of used Sandberg basses are there?

While every bass is made to order, Sandberg uses several standard models for users to customise further. The main models include the California series, the Forty Eight series, and the Classic series, with the shortscale Florence model also available. Sandberg also offers a budget brand under the Electra range, based on the popular California series.

California: Highly customisable options to replicate classic designs, backed by Sandberg’s own design language and craftsmanship. V and T series exist – V for a split-coil pickup similar to P basses, and T for a single coil pickup similar to J basses – and each can be modified with various pickup options, including M bridge pickups – similar to Stingray humbucker pickups.

Electra: Parts for Electra basses are sourced from external sources and assembled at the Sandberg factory, ensuring the same level of quality control as their hand-made instruments. These models will follow a set specification and are not a part of their bass builder found across the rest of the range.
