1986 Warwick Buzzard Prototype – Ex John Entwistle & John Deacon

A very special bass indeed right here! John Entwistle’s early 1986 Warwick Buzzard Prototype Serial Number 5. This was designed and owned by John Entwistle and retained by Entwistle until his passing on 27 June 2002 and was subsequently sold by Sotheby’s as part of his estate in May 2003. Paperwork, invoice and sale catalogue are also included from the sale at Sotheby’s. Following the Sotheby’s action further information emerged that Entwistle lent this bass to John Deacon of Queen who used it at Queen Live at Montreux Pop Festival 1986 and the official music video for Queen’s 1986 single ‘Friends Will Be Friends.

Photo-matched images confirm the bass’s appearance in Entwistle’s book Bass Culture, as well as in other published photographs, including a notable image of the instrument resting on the bar in his home.

It is in excellent condition for its age, a few small hairline splits in the wood, minor play marks. We have given this bass a full check over, everything is working as it should including electrics and truss rod. Included is the original flight case.
